This form of Auditory Integration Training requires twice a day
sessions, 30 minutes each, at least three hours apart for 10 days.
Sessions can be conducted for 10 days in a row or Monday-Friday with
the weekends off. Sessions are conducted in a very child friendly
therapy office, with parents or caregivers present. Specialized
equipment is used with high quality headphones, which the child wears
for each session.
Usually, there is a pre-assessment visit and
listening assessment, done before beginning AIT. Some children are
able to participate in the listening test and some are not. AIT can be
done with or without this test.
Written follow up information is obtained one-, three- and
six-months post AIT. Most children are also seen three-months post AIT
for an assessment update.
