PARENT REPORTS- 3-6 MONTHS POST-AIT

Here are just a few of the many positive parent reports received:

“He can do two-step directions, responds sooner when asked questions, has a much better attention span/more focused, can have conversations, is easier to reason with, is making more attempts to make eye contact and socialize with others, is more cooperative/gets work done without prompts and is covering his ears less” (boy, 8, Autism)

“He was able to go to the dentist without yelling and fighting, handles more movements, has better balance, will try new things in O.T., listens better at school, able to keep himself under control and when out of control can get it together a lot easier, speech is clearer and more mature” (boy, 7, CP/ADHD)

“We are currently six months post AIT. He is now able to follow two-step directions, answers yes/no and simple “wh” questions, is making friends with typical peers, has added 15 new foods and he plays with his brother who is two years older. His brother now says it’s fun to have him for a brother. He can now wait when it’s not his turn without having a fit. We are learning to discipline him for the first time, before he never understood so it was useless. He is becoming assertive with statements such as “I have an idea!”. We are getting to know our lost little boy. He no longer seems frightened and he has a lot more confidence. He is developing a sense of humor and actually trying to tell little jokes” (boy, 3, PDD)

“Within 90 days after AIT he was using full sentences (he was using two and three-word sentences before AIT), he is much more articulate, his vocabulary increased so much so fast it was incredible. He is memory has improved, he is able to stick with tasks longer and he no longer has temper tantrums. His O.T. also noted that his eating has improved dramatically” (boy, 4, Autism/24 week premie)

“After two days of therapy we noticed a difference, he slept through the night for the first time in three years!. We also noticed changes in his ability to focus. He has shown significant improvements in sleeping, language skills and his ability to concentrate. After what seemed to be an eternity of constant struggling, we now see the light at the end of the tunnel” (boy, 3, 26 week premie/developmental delays)

“Almost immediately after the sessions ended, he seemed calmer as if there was peacefulness in him I had never seen. His sleeping patterns improved. Then wonderful things began to happen. His world started to expand. A game or toy previously played with in only one manner now increased to multiple ways. Words started coming…even five in one night!. His O.T. released him from sensory integration therapy. In six months, he went from five or ten words to multiple sentences that express his thoughts and emotions. He continues to eagerly repeat new words and try new sentences. Just this alone has changed our family dynamics” (boy, 3, Autism)

“She’s more assertive about what she wants to do, better at two-step directions, processing time is shorter, she’s trying to join in conversations, singing, she’s able to go to large functions and she’s more organized” (girl, 11, Autism)

“Her behavior is much better, she’s able to follow more complex directions, able to do more in “real” time, her school reported she instigated verbal communication for the first time, great eye contact, slept in her own bed and was happy, better able to get what she wants” (girl, 11, Autism)

“Better oral motor functions, less stuttering, able to complete work without much intervention, able to convey a message at a quicker rate, improved understanding of facial expressions and interactions with others, keeping better track of his possessions at school” (boy, 8, Autism)

“We don’t need to repeat instructions as much, more things make sense to him, doing better in school, paying attention to corrections in pronounciations of words, greatly improved tolerance of sounds, able to play group games, handling his sensory needs better” (boy, 5, developmental delays)

“Much better oral motor skills, articulation of sounds, and use of words”
(boy, 5, Down Syndrome)

“He is really improving- he does not seem to have the same problems. Actually, he is average!- just like his friends. It’s nice!” (boy, 5, Autism)

“She’s able to work for one hour straight for O.T. and school, able to follow and remember rules to several games, less repetition of directions needed, much better attention span, intelligible more of the time, can take turns, more aware of sensory input, better eating skills” (girl, 9, Down Syndrome)

“His balance is greatly improved- he learned to roller skate and hoola hoop! He also loves the rides at Chuckie Cheese” (boy, 7, Sensory Integrative Dysfunction/Apraxia)

“His audiologist found a 5 dB improvement in his hearing in both ears after AIT”
(boy, 8, Autism/hearing impaired)

“Everyone at school has commented on his progress and maturity since AIT. His impulsivity is gone, he stops and thinks before he acts. He is more able to perform chores around home/school. If he gets off track, he is able to regroup faster. He got all of his stickers on his behavior chart for one whole week! He is also sleeping better and longer, not getting up during the night. It’s lovely!” (boy, 7, Down Syndrome)

“It really made him more of a five year old!. We realize that he might not ever be able to run or jump as other children, however, the humongous strides he’s made lately are really impressive, especially with the oral sensory issues he used to have. Before, his diet consisted of only a few foods, now the list is just growing and growing” (boy, 5, Cerebral Palsy)

“His school speech pathologist reported better oral motor skills, following two and three-step directions better, improved attention span, better topic relevance, less difficulty with stuttering and articulation, improved facial expressions and involvement with other children” (boy, 8, Autism)

“More words, more attempts to talk, sleeps more soundly, adjusting to school very well”
(girl, 3, Developmental Delay)

“Seems to be processing information more easily, more willing to make social contacts, more willing to try new foods” (boy, 11, Sensory and auditory hypersensitivity)

“He has done AIT four times now and we see improvements in eye contact, social interactions, sound making, use of his Springboard device, and relaxation every time” (boy, 15, Autism)

“He’s tolerating sensory and auditory input much better, wanting to be more social, able to sleep without waking to every sound, tolerating more sounds” (boy, 19, Asperger’s Syndrome)

“He hasn’t used his hearing aides since AIT ( he had normal hearing in one ear and no hearing in the other ear), he reports that he can hear much better. He’s started playing the piano, and his academic skills have improved by leaps and bounds” (boy, 10, developmental delays due to premature birth and exposure to cocaine/hearing impaired)

“More cooperative more often, seem to process more quickly, babbling and vocalizing more with eye contact” (girl, 5, Autism)

“You can see him trying to process what’s being said in his environment. He’s using more words and more sounds. He’s seeking out more social interactions” (boy, 16, Autism)

“He’s done AIT three times now and it makes him much more calm and peaceful. He’s less agitated and more able to be in public without becoming upset” (male, 35, Autism)
