Auditory Integration Training is an experimental form of sensory stimulation using
sound and music to improve the function of the hearing mechanism and
auditory processing systems. AIT was developed by Dr. Guy Berard, a
practicing ear, nose and throat physician (ENT) in Annecy, France. Dr.
Berard originally invented AIT to rehabilitate disorders of the
auditory system, such as hearing loss or hearing distortion
(hyper-acute or unbalanced hearing). AIT was brought to the United
States by Anabel Stehli, the mother of a young lady with Autism
Spectrum Disorder, who was greatly helped by Dr. Berard’s work. |
